Rhinos stars receive nominations for Yorkshire Choice Awards

Leeds Rhinos Foundation will be well represented at the 2020 Yorkshire Choice Awards, with several of the charity’s sporting stars nominated for prizes at the showpiece event on Saturday 14th March at Elland Road’s Centenary Pavilion.

Leeds Rhinos PDRL Player-Coach Dan Roberts joins Leeds Rhinos Wheelchair’s Ash Lockwood and the Leeds Rhinos Women’s Team, who completed a Super League and Challenge Cup double last season, as nominees for the Sporting Achievement Award.

After leading his side to the inaugural PDRL Finals Day, whilst battling a rare form of muscular dystrophy, Roberts was delighted to receive the news of his nomination.

“If I’m honest, I was really, really shocked to pick up the email saying I’d being nominated for the Awards. I’m over the moon about it and to see my name up against the likes of Kalvin Phillips and Jonny Bairstow feels pretty special.”

“To be up against Ash Lockwood will be quite strange after being teammates in the PDRL team last year, and the Rhinos’ Women team are also nominated which shows what a great season they’ve had.

“It’s obviously massive for the club and the Foundation to have so many nominees for the Awards and shows that they’re bringing in some really inspirational, hard-working people into the organisation.”

Elsewhere, Leeds Rhinos Foundation’s Women and Girls Rugby League Development Officer Lois Forsell is listed for the Inspirational Individual of the Year prize and the Rhinos’ Customer Experience Team are in the running for the Customer Service Award.

The fifth edition of the Yorkshire Choice Awards will once again recognise and raise the awareness of local people and independent businesses that are inspirational in their own way or have made notable achievements in the markets they serve.

In total, there will be 12 prizes handed out on the night, with more than 700 people from across the region set to attend the glitzy gala dinner at the home of Leeds United.
