Leeds Rhinos star Jamie Jones-Buchanan, who is currently working towards regaining his own fitness following a serious knee injury, is encouraging men in Leeds to join a new free health management course which will start on 19th January at Headingley Carnegie Stadium in partnership with Leeds Rhinos Foundation and Leeds Public Health.
The Leeds Rhinos legend has overcome many serious injuries during his career and is hoping he can inspire others to overcome adversity and make positive changes in their lives and he believes this new health management course is the perfect way for them to start their journey.
“We live in a world where we search out certain feel good factors and short term, instantly gratifying experiences, but on my journey I have found that those short term rewards rarely have any long term benefit,” said Jones-Buchanan.
“I, like most people am often guilty of picking up any spare scraps and enjoying the instant, pleasurable sugar rushes that sweets are famous for, but my instinct tells me that the consequence is that of a negative – if not dangerous – nutritional value on my body, especially in large doses.
“I’m extremely honoured to have been part of what many people consider to be the Golden decade, and the lessons I’ve taken from those years I hope to feed into the next generation. But first those lessons will also be the tools that enable me to lose the 6kg needed for my return to playing. That’s my first goal for 2016, what’s yours?”
