Proud day for Run with The Rhinos team

Run with the Rhinos 2018

Leeds Rhinos legend Barrie McDermott and Yorkshire and England Cricket hero Ryan Sidebottom joined runners and walkers from the Run with the Rhinos team joined over 7,000 runners for the Asda Foundation Leeds 10k on Sunday to raise money for Leeds Rhinos Foundation.

Over 65 runners turned out for the charity and the team, which comprised of Leeds Rugby and Leeds Rhinos Foundation staff, along with support from Law Firm Chadwick Lawrence and attendees from the charity’s health programmes battled the heat to complete the course.

Speaking at the event McDermott, who completed the race in 1 hour 6 minutes said: “I always love being part of the Run with the Rhinos team and supporting Leeds Rhinos Foundation and the life changing work they do.

“It’s been a special day as always for Leeds with so many people out running for charities and making a difference and even 12 years on from the first race you can see the legacy of Jane Tomlinson makes this race so important to people in Leeds.”

Laura Buckle, Health Improvement Officer for Leeds Rhinos Foundation said: “It was great to see so many runners from our Active Beyond Cancer and Try Club weight management groups taking part today as runners and walkers and supported by our Vice President Ryan Sidebottom, who was with them every step of the way.

“We are currently working in partnership with One You Leeds as part of the council’s public health agenda to get people more active so seeing so many faces out here walking as part of our team was great to see.”
