The team of 13 runners that will be running the Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon 2014 in aid of the Leeds Rugby Foundation will find out which player they will be assigned during the draw before the Leeds Rhinos vs London Broncos game on Friday 21st March. The draw can be followed live via @rugbyleeds, the LRF’s official twitter page.
The runners will each have a number drawn for them between 1-13 and whichever Rhinos player wears the corresponding shirt will be on hand to offer motivation to their runner throughout their training and present them with a signed shirt.
These are not the only benefits that the LRF is offering to the runners however. The runners will be raising a minimum of £500 in sponsorship money and in return will receive the following benefits:
– Guaranteed entry to the Leeds Half Marathon on Sunday 11th May 2014 to help with training.
– Pre-marathon pasta party with Rhinos first team players in attendance and motivational speeches from Brian McDermott and Keith Senior.
– Exclusive running top, photo and certificate presented by their assigned Rhinos' first team player and Rhinos' Head Coach, Brian McDermott at the Leeds Rugby Academy prior to the race.
– Attendance at a celebration event post race
Leeds Rugby Foundation works with some of the most disadvantaged and socially excluded young people in the city of Leeds. Not only will runners help LRF raise valuable funds for us to continue our work in the city, but they will have one final exclusive benefit of being able to say that they truly 'Changed Lives through Sport'.
