Leeds Rhinos Foundation can confirm new dates for the junior winter indoor touch rugby competitions, held at Football World.
Over the last 10 years, Leeds Rhinos Foundation has offered indoor touch throughout the winter months to ambassador clubs as part of the Rugby League Development Plan. Supported by Mears, the plan aims to develop the ability of junior players, increase participation and engage with new fans.
Last year, 700 players attend over the 11 festivals. The five-a-side format allows players to improve elements of their game, such as speed, agility, teamwork, communication and technique, that are vital when playing.
When talking about the new dates, Sam Horner, Leeds Rhinos Foundation’s community club’s development officer, said: “The indoor touch programme is a benefit for our Ambassador clubs and the feedback we get from them is very positive.
“This programme is part of a wider initiative to improve standards in the game by offering children more opportunities to play. The biggest thing for me is the difference you from the young kids from when they start the programme to the end, you see the improvement in skill level and to be able to offer it again this year is great for us and a benefit to the ambassador clubs.”

Venue: Football World, Pontefract Lane, Leeds LS9 0RA
Cost: There is an entry fee of £20 per team to cover the facility costs
Format: The event will be run as a 5-a-side festival with up to 8 team members, that’s 3 players resting always. You can enter 5 players only if you wish, we are flexible on team numbers.
Time: Registration will be between 10.30am -10.45am with all games starting at 11am prompt. The festival will finish at 1.00 pm including presentations
