Mears Marathon Runners raise a grand total for Foundation

Mears Runners Steve Catterick and Lee McNally presented the cheque to Danny McGuire and Head Coach Brian McDermott

Key long term Rhinos Foundation partner MEARS provided another welcome donation last week with a cheque for £1000, raised by Staff members Steve Catterick and Lee McNally.

The two part-time runners took part in the PlusNet Yorkshire Marathon in October and raised the magnificent total through sponsorship from the race, presenting the cheque to club representatives Brian McDermott and Danny McGuire on the Headingley pitch while taking photos.

The duo added: “We both feel privileged to have had the opportunity to run such a prestigious event as the PlusNet Yorkshire Marathon. It was a fantastic to run on behalf of our company Mears while helping our partners Leeds Rugby Foundation and to be putting back into the local community, we’d like to thank everyone for supporting us”

MEARS have supported the Rhinos Foundation since October 2013 agreeing a three-year contract with the club’s official charity to support the three-year Rugby League Development plan the club has implemented in the community, to increase opportunities to watch and play Rugby League.

Bob Bowman, who is the Director of Operations for the Rhinos Foundation said:
“The latest total of £1000 raised by MEARS is another fantastic contribution from one of our most valued and key partners. Steve and Lee have clearly trained hard and really put the time and effort into raising such a substantial total that we can really put to good use with our partner schools, clubs and within the community in 2015. We are very thankful to both of the runners for their efforts.”
