McDermott delivers defensive strategies Masterclass

Brian mcdermott opened the Leeds rugby foundation LRCA ( Leeds rugby coaching association ) master classes in January to an audience of 60 plus coaches at headingley Carnegie stadium.

The coaching programme in its 4th year has developed over that time and is now delivering to all coaches from mini and mod to open age. The content of the classes range from coaching ethos, defensive plays, nutrition, offence, drug awareness, conditioning, theories and practical applications.

Sam horner, Leeds rugby foundation rugby league development officer and Andrew Hague, community coach coordinator and coach educator have developed the programme to the extent that the RFL are now recognising the master classes as a form of revalidation for coaching qualifications. Sam and Andrew have recently qualified as RFL coach educators and this can only add to the clarity of the programme.

Brian and the performance staff at Leeds Rhinos are very supportive of the programme and delivery from the coaching staff, conditioners and nutritionists will continue, to develop community coaches, and in turn filtering down to develop young players.

Brian delivered the 4th master class in the series on the subject of defensive strategies on the 13th of February, 22 coaches attending the class. Since January over 120 coaches have attended.

Leeds rugby foundation would like to thank the hard working community coaches of Leeds and surrounding areas for supporting and attending the programme.
