LRF TV: Leeds Rugby Foundation hold Festival for Primary School’s in Armley

A hugely successful Tag Rugby League festival was held at West Leeds ARLFC on Wednesday 26th February in conclusion to the four weeks Rugby League coaching each primary School in the Armley area had received.

In total, 6 primary schools attended with several schools bringing more than one team. The schools in attendance were; Shakespeare; St Bartholowmews; Five Lanes and Christ Church primary school. It was a wonderful effort from all the schools that turned up to the festival.

The event was very competitive with some fantastic free flowing rugby on show from all the teams despite the muddy conditions. After some exciting games, Five Lanes A primary school were the eventual winners in the admirable and nail biting final with Shakespeare Primary.

Each school received a certificate for taking part and the festival winners, Five Lanes A primary school received a signed Leeds Rhinos ball for their efforts.

Leeds Rugby Foundation Primary Schools Development Officer, Tony Aubrey commented: “It was a great festival and it was very successful. They are a bunch of really good schools so that helped the event run as smoothly as possible. The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and played as a team with smiles on their faces. There were some fantastic tries scored from some wonderful passing moves. On the back of this I hope West Leeds ARLFC gain some new players."
