With the school year now at an end Leeds Rhinos Foundation staff have been wrapping up on another successful year supporting their partner schools with their physical educational provision.

The charity employs qualified coaches to work in schools across the city to offer projects that give pupils the opportunity to learn the fundamental movement, skill development as well as grow in confidence and have fun.

Through this work Leeds Rhinos Foundation have earned an outstanding reputation of providing quality coaching to benefit students, upskill/ mentor teachers and offer unforgettable experiences.

Corpus Christi Primary School, is one of the many of the charity’s partner schools who has received rugby, dance and multi sports coaching in their school and they said this has been invaluable for their pupils.

Adrian Doyle, Assistant Headteacher at Corpus Christi Primary School said: “The Leeds Rhinos Foundation has worked within our school for a couple of years now and it is so important to have such a major sporting establishment supporting our school.

“The children are not only taught the PE curriculum through physical activity by excellent coaches, but they learn how important team work is in a challenging and fun environment and it's these skills which we see replicated by the children in other areas of the curriculum and on the playground. I would like to say a huge thank you to the Leeds Rhinos Foundation and we can’t wait for them to come back in September.”

As part of their Partner Schools programme, Leeds Rhinos Foundation, are able to offer the schools they work with a bespoke provision that suits the needs of the school.  The programme aims to improve physical literacy and increase the engagement of pupils taking part in regular activity, raise the profile of PE, deliver staff CPS and high quality inclusive coaching that targets Ofsted outcomes.

Gareth Cook, Leeds Rhinos Foundation’s Community Manager, said: “Using the powerful impact of sport we are able to inspire children to live healthy lifestyles, understand the importance of team work and offer unforgettable experiences for the children such as meeting Rhinos players, visiting Headingley Carnegie Stadium and taking part in pre-match flag bearing ceremonies at Rhinos home games.

“I would like to thank our partner schools for an incredible year and the teachers and pupils for welcoming us into their schools.  I would also like to thank our staff, who do a terrific job engaging and enthusing the young children and leaving a lasting impact.”
