Leeds Rhinos Foundation pay tribute to Rob Burrow

Leeds Rhinos Foundation were saddened to head of the passing of Rob Burrow CBE.  Rob inspired the entire country with his brave battle against Motor Neurone Disease (MND) since his diagnosis in December 2019. He passed away peacefully at Pinderfields Hospital near his home surrounded by his loving family after becoming ill earlier this week.

Leeds Rhinos Foundation’s CEO Bob Bowman led the tributes on behalf of the charity: “So typical of Rob’s bravery and positivity that he gave his backing, in his final days, to the ‘ground breaking’ of the Rob Burrow MND centre at Seacroft Hospital which took place on Monday 3rd June.

“The Leeds Rhinos Foundation has been inspired, and has grown, through the connection with Rob and his family, we were so proud to be instrumental, along with other partners, to establish the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon and I will never forget Rob taking part in the Leeds 10k along with Kevin in 2022.
Rob’s passing occurred with only three weeks to go for the 2024 Leeds 10k where we will yet again have in excess of one hundred runners taking part raising money for the Leeds Rhinos Foundation.

“We have decided that 100% of all monies raised will now re-directed to the Leeds Hospitals Charity Rob Burrow MND centre appeal, there is still some way to go to ‘hit target’ and we hope this gesture assists.  If there is any individual or business who would be interested in match funding what we raise then I would be delighted to hear from them.”
