As part of our #HealthyRhinos week we are working with Leeds Public Health to offer our fans advice on healthy lifestyles. Each day during Health Week we will take a look at ways to make positive choices to help you lead a healthy lifestyle. Today we look at advice on alcohol and knowing your limits.

Our Health Week will culminate with fans getting the opportunity to have a health check at the Rhinos' game against Hull KR this Friday 22nd May.
Why is alcohol reduction important?
 
We know many people find units hard to calculate and what safe drinking levels are. As a result many underestimate how much they drink or have a poor understanding of the health risks increased levels of alcohol consumption.
 
Key facts

  • Increased risk of developing over 60 diseases
  • Four times more likely to develop high blood pressure
  • Women are 50% more likely to get breast cancer when regularly drinking double the daily alcohol limit
  • It is estimated  alcohol is a factor in around half of all domestic violence cases
  • Leeds economy loses an estimated 26million due to hangovers
  • Two million parents in Leeds are high risk drinkers
  • There are 17,255 dependent drinkers in Leeds
  •  Over 35,000 adults in Leeds may be classified as high risk drinkers

Top tips for reduction of Alcohol

  • Have 2 alcohol free days per week
  • When drinking wine try using a smaller glass
  • Switch to low alcohol drinks
  • Delay having the first drink
