Leeds Rhinos Foundation and Forward Leeds join forces to promote alcohol awareness

Leeds Rhinos Foundation have partnered with Forward Leeds to spread messages around alcohol and how people can live a healthier lifestyle.

Advice includes top tips on how to reduce alcohol consumption, the facts behind alcohol, promoting the No Regrets Campaign and signposting to further support services. This advice will be shared across our social media channels and other methods over the next few months.

More than 1500 beer mats have been specially designed and produced which give the public easy access to positive tips and messages. People will see these in bar areas at Headingley Stadium on matchdays and in Community Club bar areas.

Leeds Rhinos player, Justin Sangare, and General Manager of Rugby League, Matt Cook, were special guests at the recent Forward Leeds Recovery Graduation ceremony, which celebrated nearly 100 individuals becoming abstinent from alcohol and/or drugs.

Ben Berry, Project and Partnership Manager at Leeds Rhinos Foundation said: “It’s been a privilege to collaborate with Forward Leeds to create valuable resources aimed at enhancing awareness of critical messages concerning alcohol. Whether individuals seek to reduce their weekly alcohol intake by a few units or aspire to complete abstinence, these messages serve as the foundation to their journey.”

“It’s very important that we continue use our platform to share key health messages to the public and encourage people to access support where required.”

Forward Leeds Service Manager, James Barrie, said: “We were delighted to be approached by Leeds Rhinos Foundation to support them with their alcohol awareness campaign. People drink alcohol for a range of reasons such as socialising, relaxing and to have fun.”

“There are some good reasons though why we might want to drink less. It can improve your mood and your physical wellbeing. It can also improve your relationships, save your money, reduce anxiety and help you sleep better. That’s why we were pleased to work with Leeds Rhinos Foundation and suggest people give drinking less a try”.

Forward Leeds will also host a stall in the South Stand Concourse during Friday evenings fixture against Castleford Tigers. They will provide information on ways people can cut down their alcohol consumption.
