Leeds Rhinos Coach Education Programme a Huge Success

The second defensive workshop of Leeds Rhinos Coach Education Programme, delivered by Rhinos Head Coach Brian McDermott took place at Leeds Rugby Academy on Monday and was again a great success.

It was the fourth delivery in a full years’ calendar of Coach Education delivered by McDermott and his performance team which was supported by Leeds Rugby Foundation.

The four workshops, which have so far has included two offensive workshops and two defensive workshops, have attracted an average of 40 Community Coaches from many clubs across the Leeds & District area.

Over the last few months, Leeds Rhinos Head Coach, McDermott, has educated the coaches on a variety of subjects including coaching styles and ethics, coaching fun & small sided games, skills and technique.

Future workshops will include more delivery programmes from McDermott and involvement from Leeds Rhinos Head Conditioner Jason Davidson and his team. Added delivery from Leeds Rugby Foundation staff will include age specific workshops and primary rugby league in particular.

Leeds Rugby Foundation’s Community Club Development Officer, Sam Horner, commented on the success:

“All our coach education is free and importantly it is very much part of our development plan for rugby league in the Leeds & District area. The involvement more so this year of Brian McDermott and the performance team has added another level to the whole programme".
