Last week saw the Leeds Girls Tag Qualifiers take place at Crawshaw Academy.
The Leeds Girls Tag Tournament is one which takes place each year, inviting all primary schools in the city of Leeds to take part.
The tournament, organised by Women and Girls Development Officer, Lois Forsell, brought in teams from all areas of Leeds, many of which were taking part for the first time. Others however, are a regular at this event and continue to join us year after year.
This year we were joined by 17 different schools who all came to compete and qualify for a place in next week’s final, which will be hosted here at Headingley Stadium for the first time in the tournament’s history.
This is a great opportunity for the qualifying teams to come and play on the same pitch as the Leeds Rhinos men and women’s first teams. Not only will they have the chance to come and play on the same turf as some of their idols, they will be doing so in front of family, friends and teachers.
This tournament is a great example of the growth of the girls game, and we hope that year on year the number of players taking part continues to rise.
The Foundation would like to thank all the schools that took part and would like to say a massive well done to all of the players who put on a great show.
The schools joining us for the Leeds Girls Tag Finals are as follows:
Meanwood C of E Primary
Hovingham Primary
St Margarets C of E Primary
Bramham Primary
Shadwell Primary
Southroyd Primary
