Jenny Robinson is preparing to face her greatest challenge to date as she participates in the Run For All Leeds 10K on Sunday 18th June.
While she has previously taken on this challenge using her manual wheelchair, with the support of her partner, Declan Jenkinson, this year will be different. Jenny will be using an adapted accessible bike to complete the 10K course in the centre of Leeds.
Jenny and Declan are raising funds for two causes that are dear to their hearts: Leeds Rhinos Foundation and AT Society.
Leeds Rhinos Foundation has been supporting Jenny and Declan in various ways over the years, helping them fulfil their potential in the field of rugby league. Declan has participated in many of Leeds Rhinos Foundation’s health projects, including Try Club, and was among the first players to join the Leeds Rhinos Learning Disability Super League. Jenny has been a dedicated volunteer, serving as the official Media Assistant for the Learning Disability Super League team, as well as volunteering at the Rugby League World Cup 2021 with Community Integrated Care. Both excelled at the most recent festival during Magic Weekend at St James Park!
The AT Society provides support for individuals diagnosed with Ataxia-Telangiectasia, a rare and complex genetic disorder that affects various systems in the body. Jenny’s sister, Louise, was diagnosed with this condition and sadly passed away at the age of 28. Throughout Louise’s life, the AT Society offered support to Louise and her family in many ways, including arranging travel for specialised treatment, respite care, providing recreational holiday opportunities with assistance, and offering training in the use of specialised medical equipment, along with support for family and friends.
