Join In With The Leeds 2 Rio Disability Sport Day On Sunday

As part of the UK’s first National Paralympic day named ‘Leeds 2 Rio Disability Day’, Leeds Rhinos wheelchair team are to host a wheelchair Rugby League festival this Sunday 8th September from 10am-4pm at the John Charles Centre For Sport.

As part of the event, Leeds Rugby Foundation will be entering an “all-stars team” which will consist of former Rhinos star and now Foundation Coach, Keith Senior.

The main event of the day will see the professionals, England v Ireland do battle at 12pm.

The event is free to attend and all ages and abilities are urged to come down. Non-disabled players can have the chance to try out 14 disability and Paralympic sports including Wheelchair Basketball with Leeds Spiders WBC, adapted cycling, blind football, power-chair football, wheelchair tennis, visually impaired tennis, boccia and many more.

Leeds Rugby Foundation Rugby League Development Manager and captain of the Foundation “all-stars” team commented:

“This event is a one-off day to celebrate the anniversary of the London Paralympic Games and because of this Leeds Rugby Foundation are entering a staff 'allstars team' to play exhibition matches during the morning ahead of the main event, England v Ireland kicking off at 12pm.

“Sunday is a fantastic opportunity for the public to not only watch high-class disability-sport, but to also get involved.

“Leeds Rhinos and Leeds Rugby Foundation are delighted to be a part of the event and are proud to be associated with Paralympic sport.”
