Leeds Rhinos Foundation is currently recruiting for the role of a Project Tutor to work in the charity’s TryZone education centre and also a Rugby League Development Officer.
Rugby League Development Officer with Leeds Rhinos Foundation
Full Time
The role will be based at the following locations:
- Leeds Rugby Academy, Kirkstall
- Headingley Carnegie Stadium, Headingley
- Community Based in one of the following areas:South Leeds, West Leeds, East Leeds, North West Leeds or North East Leeds
Key Responsibilities – Schools Coaching
- Rugby League and multi skills coaching in Primary Schools at key stage 1 (under 7) – all work to link to player recruitment for community clubs
- Rugby League Coaching in High Schools
- Community club taster sessions at identified age groups
- Community club/player/coach development
- Deliver local schools festivals and leadership awards as arranged by competitions manager
- Delivery of key sky try project objectives
- All work logged on UPSHOT (our monitoring tool)
- Create a media release per project / coaching block, highlighting key funders and partners
- All work to link to community clubs
- Additional work for the Leeds Rhinos Foundation as requested by line manager
- Attendance at all core Leeds Rhinos Foundation events including Leeds Rhinos match days.
- Update Outlook calendar on a weekly basis and manage own workload effectively.
- Attendance at Leeds Rhinos Foundation camps and summer activities outside of term times as required by line manager.
- Attendance at regular RL development staff meetings
- Level 2 Coaching Qualification in Rugby League
- Experience of schools rugby league coaching
- Experience of Club Development work
- Ability to communicate at all levels
- Ability to monitor own workload
- Good IT skills
- Ability to write articles for press and websites
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and individually
- Able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekdays and match days

SALARY: £21,000 Full Time ‘All Year Round’

Leeds Rhinos Foundation is Leeds Rhinos’ official charity. We work in the heart of the community harnessing the power of sport to make a lasting and positive impact on individuals’ lives.
Leeds Rugby Foundation have developed an exciting Education project called ‘TryZone’ which makes use of Leeds Rhinos Foundation’s expertise and resources, together with the skills of partners to reduce risk taking and anti-social behaviour, improve emotional and physical health and wellbeing, improve confidence and enhance employability prospects among groups of disadvantaged young people.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has experience of delivery/tutoring to join a well-established successful team and be responsible for hands on delivery of education projects and to help shape how this programme develops. The successful candidate will plan and manage the delivery of sessions to the young people who will attend making use of the facilities available via the professional rugby team Leeds Rhinos. They will be able to inspire youngsters from a variety of backgrounds to make positive changes to their own lives using a creative, innovative approach, but be able to balance thinking outside the box, with effective time manangement and an ability to meet objectives.
This project is a real opportunity for an individual who shares our passion for learning and motivating non-traditional learners through activity and sport.
They will be enthusiastic and adaptable individual with plenty of experience working with diverse groups of learners. The successful candidate would also recognise the value in utilising available resources in the club to inspire and motivate young people and aduts to achieve
JOB PURPOSE:
To design resources for, and deliver innovative sessions to groups of young people across different age groups within a classroom/sporting setting, based mainly at the world famous Headingley Carnegie Stadium. You will also work with the young people’s families in workshop settings and informally to produce better outcomes for the whole family and to make results sustainable.
You will lead on the delivery of daytime and Out of School learning projects and may be asked to deliver some accredited learning. You will have the ability to teach in a group setting, on a one to one basis and support pupils who have a range of learning needs.
You will have, and further develop the skills to work alongside challenging cohorts of learners who can have complex issues creating barriers to learning. You will also have a flexible and friendly approach to teaching. In addition to key educational outcomes you will work with the young people to help them develop their soft skills, coping mechanisms, confidence and ability to make friends.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- You will support learners with their learning needs and liaise with the Project Manager, schools, colleagues within Leeds Rhinos Foundation and Leeds Rugby, multi-agencies and other external partners as well as the young people’s families
- To be aware of safeguarding and child protection procedures and to report as necessary as appropriate to the role
- To familiarise yourself with developments in transition learning, school agendas, awarding bodies and related quality assurance demands
- Play a key role in contributing to the continual improvement of the service’s quality assurance performance
- Ensure lesson planning, marking, ILPs, reviews, resources are up to date and of a high standard
- Attend and contribute to all relevant meetings both internally and externally
- To be responsible for any equipment/resources linked to this role
- To develop off the shelf resources to support delivery of learning outcomes to pupils, to include 1:1 and group work.
- To contribute to reports, Self Assessment Reports, Business Plans
To promote, monitor and maintain health safety and security in the working environment
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- This is not a 9-5 position. The project will be delivered during and outside of school hours; therefore the successful candidates will need to be flexible with their working hours.
