Hunslet St Mary’s Year 6s Play First Game

HSM YEAR 6 RL TEAM

Hunslet St Mary’s Year 6 rugby league team played their first game last week against Richmond House Primary School. The game was played at Leeds Irish Centre and saw the St Mary’s side win the game 6-4.

The game was great for all involved and saw great performances from Hunslet St Mary's players Keenan, Makaay and Benjamin who all managed to get their names on the scoresheet.

The school have been coached by the Leeds Rugby Foundation's Schools and Female Participation Officer, Lois Forsell, in after-school sessions for the past few months. The partnership between Hunslet St Mary's and the LRF came through the LRF School Sports Offer. Forsell said:

“They were great in defence and put all their hard work from training into practice. They got plenty on the score board through the strong, fast running of Keenan who will be a handful for any team he comes up against as he crossed the line 4 times in this game. Makaay and Benjamin also managed to get tries in their first game too.”

Hunslet St Mary's next game is next week against Hunslet Carr in the primary schools cup.
