Hesco Bastion’s continued support of the Leeds Rugby Foundation

Thanks to continued support from Hesco Bastion the Leeds Rugby Foundation this week was able to hold a primary schools tag rugby league festival for Year 5 pupils at East Leeds ARLFC. It was the finale to a four week coaching block that a host of schools had received in the LS9 area of the city.

The festival involved five local primary schools. After some close contests, Low Road Primary School were the eventual winners in what was a highly competitive event. They emerged with a signed Leeds Rhinos ball and certificates for their success.

A huge benefit from this event is the engagement between East Leeds ARLFC and the schools concerned as there is now a stronger school and club link. East Leeds has had the opportunity to recruit more players and potentially develop their next Danny McGuire.

Leeds Rhinos Primary Schools Development Officer Tony Aubrey commented, “The festival was a huge success and I was incredibly pleased with the standard of rugby that was on show.”

“The children had only four weeks to learn the sport and most of the children had never played rugby league before. I would like to acknowledge all the schools for taking part; Low Road Primary, Richmond Hill Primary, All Saints Primary, St Patricks Primary and St Joseph’s Primary. A big thank you needs to go East Leeds for allowing us to use their fantastic facilities and also Hesco Bastion for their much appreciated support.”

Next half term the Leeds Rugby Foundation will be introducing and developing rugby League in primary schools in the north part of the city. The primary schools tag rugby festival will be held at North Leeds Leopards at the Crammer Recreation ground on Wednesday 7th December.
