First Leeds Rhinos Player Development Day in Oldham confirmed in October half term

Leeds Rhinos Foundation is delighted to announce that it will host its first ever Player Development Day in Oldham on Wednesday 27th October.

It marks the first time that one of these popular rugby league development sessions, which are part of the award-winning England Talent Pathway scheme, has been held outside of Leeds in an exciting development for junior players at clubs in the Oldham area, which has long been a hot bed of talent for the Super League including Rhinos legends Kevin Sinfield and Barrie McDermott, who both hail from the town.

The Development Day is set to take place next Wednesday at Waterhead Academy from 1-3pm, and is open to any Boys in Year 10 and 11 (u15/u16) who are looking to improve their core rugby skills and reach their full athletic potential in a professional environment.

It is not only a fantastic opportunity for budding stars to receive first class training by Leeds Rhinos coaches, but also a chance for the coaches to use the day to highlight potential talent for the club’s renowned Scholarship programmes and the Oldham Sixth Form Development Academy, which is being developed as part of the school’s ground-breaking partnership with Leeds Rhinos Foundation.

As with the Player Development Day running at Hunslet Warriors on Friday 29th October, this session will be FREE for all players to attend.

Ian Hardman, Rugby League Development Manager said: “We are extremely proud of how successful our Player Development Days have been, so we are excited to not only host another session for our local players at community clubs across Leeds but also now head over the Pennines to support the next generation of talented rugby league players in Oldham and the surrounding areas, with our first ever Player Development Day there.”

“We’ve actually seen numerous players from community clubs in the Oldham and Rochdale area travelling over to attend our sessions before, so it’s great that we can now deliver something on their doorstep and this works perfectly in tandem our partnership with Oldham Sixth Form to provide further high-quality sporting opportunities for the young people of Oldham and further the development of young players in the town.”

Please note that places are limited and those who are interested in attending are urged to sign up as soon as possible to avoid disappointment!

The session is FREE to attend, but does require all players to pre-registered via the booking form below.
