England Rugby Union Coach Stuart Lancaster backs Leeds Rugby Foundation charity

Local charity Leeds Rugby Foundation is delighted to announce that Stuart Lancaster, England Rugby Union Head Coach, has joined the star studded line up of The Kaiser Chiefs, Nell McAndrew, Ryan Sidebottom, Matt Lewis and Greg Mulholland MP to become its latest Vice President.

Lancaster was part of the first ever squad that played as Leeds RUFC in 1992 and went on to captain the club before becoming Director of Rugby in 2006, and so has a long association with the club and now its official charity.

On his appointment as a Vice President Lancaster stated: “I am very proud to put my name behind Leeds Rugby Foundation and the fantastic work they do in community. The organisation usessport to inspire individuals to be the best that they can be.   I understand the power of sport and the huge impact it can have on your life, so was thrilled to have the chance to support a charity that uses sport to make a difference in my local community.”

This news came at a great time for the Foundation (the official charity of both Leeds Rhinos and Leeds Carnegie) who are entering a new era having just launched their new logo. Local company, Ponderosa, a full service advertising agency in Leeds, generously designed the new logo at no cost to the charity.

Lucy Young, Chief Executive of Leeds Rugby Foundation, commented: “We were over the moon when Stuart decided to become one of the Foundation’s VPs especially at such an exciting time for the charity!”  She added, “To have England Rugby Union Head Coach’s support of Leeds Rugby Foundation is a real coup for a charity that uses rugby to inspire the community.  Stuart’s backing will undoubtedly allow us to change even more lives through sport.”
