Following on from the success of last year’s event, Leeds Rhinos Foundation, St George’s Crypt and St Gemma’s Hospice are delighted to announce that they will be teaming up again this year for the 2019 Leeds Big Sleep.
The sleepout will once again take place at Emerald Headingley Stadium, on Thursday 28th November.
Launched in 2017, the Leeds Big Sleep is a collaborative fundraising event which involves local business leaders, Leeds residents and members of the participating charities coming together to spend a night out in the terraces at Emerald Headingley Stadium to raise much-needed money for the Leeds vulnerable communities and highlight the plight of homeless people across the city.
More than £32,000 was raised from last year’s event, which has led to the three charities being shortlisted for the Fundraising Partnership of the Year Award at the 2019 Institute of Fundraising (IoF) Yorkshire Awards.
Gareth Cook, Leeds Rhinos Foundation Head of Community and Engagement, said: “We are delighted to be hosting the Leeds Big Sleep again in 2019, following on from the fantastic event in 2018 that raised an incredible amount of money for some of the city’s most vulnerable people.
“This year we are aiming to top this figure and would like to encourage companies to take part as a corporate team builder whilst raising vital funds for three very worthy causes that give so much back to the city of Leeds.”
Commenting on the event, Cheryl Harrington, Head of Fundraising at St George’s Crypt, added: “The atmosphere was fantastic and everyone enjoyed themselves.
“But it really made me think; it was so cold on the night and it hit home what our clients must feel every night.”
“We are really happy that so many businesses across the city got involved and hope that this year we get more CEO’s and corporate groups to raise even more money for these very important local causes.”
Participation for the 2019 Leeds Big Sleep is aimed at individuals and corporate teams, with a sponsorship target of £100.
