Over the next 3 months, the Foundation will be working with coaches from Leeds Rhinos to host a series of coaching workshops, with the aim of providing both theory and practical knowledge that coaches can take back to their clubs.
This series of workshops will form part of our wider coach education, development and pathways offer, feeding into our Rugby League Development Plan and aim of improving community standards and environments throughout the city.
Last year alone, through our Level 1 and 2 courses led by Sam Horner, almost 150 coaches were qualified locally, and we are already well on our way to surpassing that number this year, in addition to reaching over 150 coaches in club environments through outreach CPD.
Rugby League Development Manager, Darren Higgins, commented on the workshops: “To have coaches such as Rohan, Chev and Lois sharing their knowledge and experiences is a great opportunity for local coaches and demonstrates the Rhinos commitment to supporting the local community game.
“In addition to this we currently have over 10 community club coaches coaching on the Rhinos Talent Pathway programme and are currently recruiting coaches for this summer’s North V South Development Series at various age groups.
“These programmes provide unique opportunities for coaches to learn and receive bespoke CPD and mentoring, which will not only benefit them as individual coaches but local community clubs and players.”
