There is just over 1 week to go till the Leeds Marathon commences, and we are urging spectators to join us in supporting those taking part.
Over 12,000 runners will line up to take part in the inaugural Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon from Headingley Stadium. A number of these runners include members of staff from both the club and the Foundation, running in support of an amazing cause.
Inspired by Kevin Sinfield’s running challenges since Rob’s MND diagnosis in 2019, this event has motivated thousands to take on their own marathon challenge, with a large percentage of participants taking it on for the first time. With over a month to go, Run For All announced that the Marathon had surpassed the £1million fundraising mark, and now with just 1 week to go, this has increased even further.
This is a very special event, marking history as the first time the city has hosted a marathon in over 20 years and we are so proud that we have a number of runners from our Leeds Rhinos community.
Here at the Foundation, we will be hosting three cheer stations along the route, open to spectators and Rhinos fans as a base to support those running through. We will also be joined by dancers from the Rhinestones and The England Band who will provide entertainment at the stations.
The three cheer stations are:
- Golden Arce Park: opposite the car park entrance
- Pool AFC
- Upper Old Pool Bank
