Chadwick Lawrence show their support for Leeds Rhinos Foundation by signing up to Run With The Rhinos in 2021

There will be plenty of familiar faces amongst this year’s Run with the Rhinos team when it joins the Run For All Leeds 10k 2021 on Sunday 5th September, none more so than Leeds Rhinos Foundation Trustee and Managing Partner of Chadwick Lawrence, Neil Wilson.

Neil, along with a number of his colleagues from the Yorkshire law firm, will join forces with dozens of other runners and walkers supporting the official charity of Leeds Rhinos by taking on 6.2 miles through the streets of Leeds this summer.

Having successfully completed the Leeds 10k as part of previous Run with the Rhinos teams, Neil knows all about how enjoyable the event is and says he can’t wait to be involved again.

“We’ve been involved with the Leeds 10k for many years as a firm, originally as a bit of a team-building activity,” explained Neil.

“So, when Run with the Rhinos was created, it made sense for us to be part of that team- both since I hold my role as a Trustee and secondly because we’re a proud long-term partner of both Leeds Rhinos and the Foundation.”

“I don’t know why, but when we’re all branded up together as one Rhinos team it just feels much more enjoyable. Being able to get together after for a drink and a chat with all the other supporters really drives our team spirit up and makes it a real attraction,” said Neil.

The event is one of highlights of the Foundation’s fundraising calendar, with participants always relishing the chance to pull on their blue and amber running tops and complete the run alongside Rhinos legends and staff.

With less than 4 months to the event, the Chadwick Lawrence contingent are in training for the event with the in-house competition as intense as always.

“I can’t turn around and say I’m a fanatic runner now, but I’m a kind of casual, fun-loving runner who just enjoys doing it at a steady pace,” said Neil.

“One or two of our staff have actually really gone for it in lockdown though and started to knock out personal bests, so there will definitely be a bit of internal competition, but equally we’ll have those doing a 10k for the first time which means we’ll have a nice balance.”

“When you’re getting cheered on by all the Rhinos fans at the side of the course it makes you feel so special and we always enjoy taking part in the run.”

Last year’s Run with the Rhinos event was eventually converted to a virtual format, becoming another of Leeds Rhinos Foundation’s planned fundraising events disrupted by the coronavirus health crisis.

Having witnessed the resilience of the Foundation to carry on supporting their local community throughout the pandemic, Neil hopes he and many others can now express their gratitude by raising vital funds to help secure the future of the charity’s many community-based programmes.

“It’s absolutely crucial to have these fundraising events, no more so now where the Foundation as a charity is having to catch up on lost time and revenue, as all businesses are.”

“The more people who take part and the more money we can raise through Run with the Rhinos, then the more work can be carried out in the community to change lives through sport.”

“Therefore, it’s something that Chadwick Lawrence are very proud to support. We get to support the Foundation who are a phenomenal local charity that touch the lives of so many people, but also Rob Burrow, who is a true gentleman and has dealt with the challenges that have come his way so bravely.

“To be able to help raise the profile of his fund and play our small part in supporting Rob, Lindsay, his kids and the wider MND Association with the amazing work they do is something we couldn’t possibly say no to.”
