Carnegie Champion Schools National Finals

South Leeds following their semi final victory in the 2012 Champion Schools Tournament

The Carnegie Champion Schools National Finals take place at Odsal Stadium today (23rd August) and Leeds is well represented with both South Leeds Academy (year 8) and Temple Moor (year 9) making the grade.

Both have made it to the finals before but missed out by the closest of margins, so we're hoping this year they can go that extra step and bring the National Schools trophies back to Leeds.

Leeds Rugby Foundation has an active high schools program in the city, thanks to funding supplied by Leeds City College.  This funding has enabled coaches to deliver sessions in high schools across the city and both schools have now reaped the rewards with a place in the finals.  Jonny Wainhouse, who leads on high School development in Leeds, commented:

"The support that Leeds City College have given us has enabled me along with my other coaches to deliver in high schools throughout Leeds.  All the teachers I have worked with have also been great in facilitating sessions and luckily for South Leeds and Temple Moor, they both have a talented bunch of lads and through their own hard work, they have made this year's finals"

From everybody at the Leeds Rugby Foundation – good luck South Leeds and Temple Moor!
