Businesses get Back Onside with Foundation’s fitness programme

Leeds Rhinos Foundation is helping more men in Leeds to get back into physical activity by teaming up with local businesses to take our Back Onside programme into the workplace.

Since its launch in January, Back Onside- a free 10-week programme run in partnership with Rugby League Cares- has been helping attendees to get active again and improve their overall fitness.

More than 40 participants have successfully completed the programme already, which has helped them to rediscover the benefits of exercise in a fun, relaxed environment, with sessions led by our team of trained health professionals and former Leeds Rhinos star Willie Poching.

Now, thanks to the success of the initiative through its first cohorts, Leeds Rhinos Foundation has been invited by First Bus and Sky Bet & Gaming to deliver one-hour Back Onside sessions at their headquarters each week, helping staff to look after their wellbeing and stay active throughout the working day.

All abilities will be catered for within the course to ensure that each participant is able to achieve their fitness goals, whatever they may be.

Laura Buckle, Health Improvement Officer for Leeds Rhinos Foundation, “We’re delighted to be able to provide this extension of our successful Back Onside programme and team up with some fantastic organisations in the community.

“Our first week of sessions at Sky Bet were well attended and both groups expressed how much they enjoyed the sessions, which was evident in the intensity and passion they showed. “We spend so much time in our work environments that it’s important to make sure we look after our health and welfare, even during the working day.

“Bringing Back Onside into the workplace has been fantastic for engaging more people in physical activity; helping them to team up with their colleagues to get active in a fun, familiar setting that fits around their daily lives.”
