Amazing turnout for Rhinos 10K Day

On Sunday 5th July, supporters, former Leeds Rhinos players, partners and staff took part in their own 10K challenges to support our charity on our first Rhinos 10K Day.  The turnout was incredible, with people completing walks, rows, cycles and runs to join in the team effort.

Legendary Leeds Rhinos captain Kevin Sinfield MBE and his friend and former Leeds team mate, Barrie McDermott, met up near their homes in Oldham to complete the run together.

Our Trustee and Leeds Rhinos hero Jamie Jones-Buchanan completed a 10K run with his wife Emma and Jamie Peacock almost recorded a personal best on his run in West Leeds.

Leeds Rhinos and England Wheelchair star James Simpson took on a unique 10K challenge on a Skierg in under an hour.

Our Chief Operating Officer Bob Bowman, is known for his endurance challenges and did not disappoint for this event and completed a 10K cycle, 10K run followed by a 10K row!

Rhinos favourite, Brett Delaney, who now works for our charity did his 10K on the treadmill, wearing the new Run With The Rhinos t-shirts and his colleagues from Leeds Rhinos Foundation also joined in with hikes, runs and walks.

Former staff of Leeds Rhinos and Leeds Rhinos Foundation gave their support to the day, with former Communications Executive and Run With The Rhinos record holder Dan Phillis planning his route to finish and the birthplace of Rugby League in Huddersfield and former Rhinos Marketing Executive completing her own challenge on the streets near her home in Berlin.

People who have benefited from the work Leeds Rhinos Foundation do in the community and those who support the charity also got involved.  Young player Isaac from East Leeds was the youngest participant and has raised over £130 which will help us continue our work to change lives through sport.

We were also delighted that many of our partners who we work with joined in, including Emma Strachan from Leeds Public Health, who we work closely with on our health initiatives and Ryan Gaunt from Leeds City College.
