“We’re excited to be working with Leeds Rhinos Foundation to offer new opportunities for older people in Leeds to find out about ways to keep active and well during Winter as well as enjoying a social time together. It will be a fantastic addition to the range of health and wellbeing activities we offer at Age UK Leeds, and in a great setting too!”
The programme will be led by staff from the Leeds Rhinos Foundation along with special guest session leaders from organisations trained in delivering exercise sessions and health advice workshops.
Health Improvement Officer for the Leeds Rhinos Foundation Stephen Turrell, who has put the programme together with Amy Lawless from Leeds Beckett University and Age UK Leeds commented:
“We are pleased to be able to offer this new programme for elderly people over the winter months. This time of year it is vital to reach out to those potentially most vulnerable and this programme has been designed with that in mind.
“Attendees can educate themselves about some of the best practices for staying healthy, take part in some fun activities but above all, can enjoy some camaraderie with other people on the course.”
The Leeds Rhinos Foundation and Age UK’s ‘Fight the Frost’ programme will run on Tuesdays from 10:30am to 12:30am until 22nd March. Transport is available and refreshments will be provided on the day.
