LRF TV: Over 100 coaches inspired by New Zealand RLWC Coaching Masterclass

Leeds Rugby Foundation inspired over 100 community coaches from the Leeds and district area to attend a Coaching Masterclass held by the New Zealand Rugby League World Cup 2013 coaching team at Headingley Carnegie Stadium last night. Watch the highlights package below:

New Zealand Head Coach Stephen Kearney, Team Manager Tony Iro and Assistant Coach, Ivan Cleary delivered a 'masterclass' to coaches from local community clubs and schools in Leeds on a range of topics, covering sports psychology, team management and dealing with international rugby stars.

Leon Crick, Leeds Rugby Foundation’s Rugby League Development Manager commented: “It’s fantastic for us and Rugby League in Leeds that the New Zealand Coaching Team took time out of their busy schedules to deliver this session for us.

“I think the night highlighted that it is the little things in coaching which makes a successful team. There is no magic formula; it is just about getting young players to work hard, to enjoy it and to play to the best of their abilities.”

Councillor Lucinda Yeadon, Leeds City Council’s Executive Member for Learning and Skills said:
“It really has been a pleasure hosting the New Zealand Rugby League squad and this event offers a great opportunity for our fantastic community coaches to hear about some of the training methods used by coaching staff of a world champion team.

“Our community coaches work really hard and are passionate about what they do, and this event is an acknowledgement of their contribution to the further development of Rugby League in Leeds.”
