X Factor star Jake Quickenden to perform at Heart Yorkshire Children’s Day 2016

Jake Quickenden will perform at the Yorkshire Heart Children's Day 2016

Heart Yorkshire has teamed up with the Leeds Rhinos Foundation and Yorkshire Cricket Foundation to stage the 2016 Heart Yorkshire Children’s Day, that will take place at Headingley Carnegie Stadium on Sunday 17th July.

This year’s Children’s Day, which last year attracted over 5000 people, will be hosted by Heart Yorkshire and will see X Factor and I’m a Celebrity star Jake Quickenden perform live.

Quickenden, who was a runner up in ITV’s I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, will entertain the crowd with some of the performances that saw him beat thousands of contestants to reach The X Factor finals.

Speaking about their support of this year’s Children’s Day, Laura Busson, programme controller at Heart Yorkshire said: “We are thrilled to be involved in the family fun day with the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation and Leeds Rhinos Foundation and we look forward to this really exciting event which promises to be a lot of fun for the whole family.”

As well as a live performance from Quickenden, there will be activities for the whole family to enjoy and the full Leeds Rhinos squad will also be in attendance.  The team from Breeze Leeds will be bringing inflatables including a lazer zone, obstacle course, demolition ball, play house, bounce and slide and supa dome.  For sports lovers there will be plenty to get involved in such as football, golf, relay races and mini basketball. Yorkshire attractions such as Lightwater Valley, Tropical World and Eureka will once again show their support for the event with stalls full of interactive fun.

Leeds Rhinos Foundation’s Community Manager, Gareth Cook commented: “We are delighted to be hosting Children’s Day again this summer and we hope this will be the biggest yet held at Headingley Carnegie Stadium. It is a wonderful opportunity to spend the day with friends and family and take part in interactive activities.”

Nick Robinson, Project Manager at Yorkshire Cricket Foundation added: “Plans are well under way to make this year’s Children’s Day an unforgettable, unmissable experience for all those who attend.”

Children’s Day is a historic Leeds event that dates as far back as 1922, when it was staged at Roundhay Park. The event was revived at Headingley Carnegie Stadium in 2008 by the Gary Chappelow Memorial Fund and has become one of the most popular events in the Leeds calendar.

The gates for the Heart Yorkshire Children’s Day 2016 open at 10am and close at 4pm. Admission is £3 per adult and just £1 per child (aged 5-17), family tickets (2 x adults & 2 x children) are available for just £5.  Family tickets must be bought in advance at the Leeds Rhinos ticket office, but all other tickets can be purchased on the day or beforehand. All activities inside the ground are completely free, so bring the family and enjoy a fantastic day at Headingley Carnegie Stadium.
