Congratulations to the 75 runners who took part in the Asda Foundation Leeds 10k on Sunday as part of the Run with the Rhinos team, raising money for Leeds Rhinos Foundation and Jane’s Appeal.
Joining the team for the first time was the legendary former Rhinos captain, Kevin Sinfield MBE, who completed his first ever 10k race in 44 minutes 45 seconds. He was joined by his former team mate Barrie McDermott along with star of Channel 4 TV series SAS: Who Dares Wins, Colin MacLachlan and Leeds City Councillor for Garforth and Swillington ward and Leeds Rhinos Foundation Trustee, Stuart McKenna, in the Rhinos team for the race.
Staff from Leeds Rugby and Leeds Rhinos Foundation along with many supporters of the club and the charity also took on the race through Leeds and so far have raised over £3000 in online donations alone.
Speaking about this year’s Run with the Rhinos team, Leeds Rhinos Foundation’s Events and Fundraising Officer Jessica Bowman said: “On behalf of Leeds Rhinos Foundation I would like to thank everyone who took part in the race for our team. All money raised will go directly to supporting the extensive work that the Leeds Rhinos Foundation and Jane Tomlinson Appeal do within communities across Leeds.
“It was incredible to see so many people wearing our yellow shirts on the course and supporting our charity. After the run we got the chance to celebrate with a well-deserved post-race party at Banyan in Leeds City Square and everyone was saying how much they had enjoyed it and that they will do it again next year! I would like to thank our Friends of the Foundation L1 Performance for providing massages for the runners and their support in the build up to the race.”
