Children aged 7-12 looking towards a career in Dance can gain an Explore Level Arts Award at three school holiday camps across Leeds with the Leeds Rhinos Foundation for just £25.
Due to the success of the charity's Arts Award delivery during the last academic year, which saw over 126 dance students gain the award from the Leeds Rhinos Foundation, the new look four-day dance camps will offer more children the chance to gain valuable introduction to exploring a career of learning in the arts.
Leeds Rhinos Foundation received funding to deliver the Arts Award in the Leeds Community in February 2016 in partnership with Arts Council England and Rugby League Cares working primarily with Rhinestones members and offering the programme to schools and community groups in the city.
Now for just £25, Camps will be offered at Wetherby Sports Association during October half term, Ralph Thoresby High School at February half term, and Swinnow Primary School during Easter holidays with students on the camps working through a mixed programme of choreography, arts and dance theory and performance in contemporary and musical theatre dance.
Students will work through course handbooks exploring musical theatre and contemporary dance theory and history, researching famous dance artists and local dance organisations and will record and evaluate their dance experience on camp from choreography to performance.
Following the camp, the participant’s handbooks and any video/photographic evidence will be sent for moderation by the Trinity College London international examination board. If pupils have passed the requirements, pupils will gain an ‘Arts Award Explore’ National Certificate, which is an Entry Level 3 qualification on the qualifications and credit framework and recognised throughout the UK.
