Not only does playing rugby help children stay active but they can also gain much more from being part of a team sport such as respect, character building, team work, physical strength, a healthy sense of competition as well as the opportunity to make new friends.
Leeds Rhinos Foundation now work with 36 Ambassador Clubs and each of these enjoy close links with the charity and are able to offer their players the opportunity to play on the pitch in the half time games at the Rhinos matches or even walk out with the first team players.
Leeds Rhinos captain Danny McGuire, who started his playing career with his local community club East Leeds, said: “Rugby League is a great sport to be involved in. I have fond memories of my time playing with East Leeds and made friends for life there. The community game in Leeds is thriving and there are more opportunities than ever to play the game, so if you are looking for a new challenge in 2017 or are interested in your child taking up a sport then why not give rugby league a go?”
