Gary Hetherington invited Leeds Rhinos Ambassadors to Headingley Carnegie Stadium on Tuesday for a special evening to thank them for all their hard work, dedication and support of the Club this year.
Every sector of the Ambassador scheme represented from the city's Community Clubs, Schools, Businesses and Supporter Branches for an overview of the Leeds Rhinos 2016 season, including some great footage of the physical on the pitch tussles the team faced throughout the season.
A clear vision for the Club and stadium was shared with the group as well as acknowledging the invaluable input all our Ambassadors have made and will hopefully continue to make over the years.
Following the recent ‘20 years of Rhinos’ celebration, Gary Hetherington was especially keen to highlight that the vision and values that underpin the Club have not changed and that the Ambassador scheme contributes to the success of each of our four main objectives:
– To support and be at the heart of the community.
– To build a sustainable business
– To restore Headingley Carnegie Stadium to a world class venue.
– To provide the city with a team to be proud of.
The often thankless and invaluable work Leeds Rhinos Ambassadors do on a voluntary basis, has assisted the club in being at the heart of the community as well as providing the city of Leeds with a team to be proud of.
The Ambassadors were treated to a Q&A session with Cameron Smith and Danny McGuire, who provided an insight in to his journey to Leeds Rhinos when he played High School and Club rugby league.
As the official Leeds Rhinos Fanbassador, McGuire was keen to express his unwavering support of all Ambassadors and the impact that the scheme can have on junior fans as well as the introduction of Rugby League to new fans through the social aspects offered via our great network of supporter branches.
McGuire added,
“It is nice to be able to give back and thank the Ambassadors personally for their hard work and tireless commitment they give to the Club in their free time. All the lads and the whole team here at Rhinos appreciate all the support we get and we are fully behind the Ambassador scheme and hope it continues to do such great work in the community going forward.”
Leeds Rhinos Foundation Partnerships Manager, Dan Busfield added:
"We are extremely proud of the fact that the Rhinos continue to be at the heart of communities in many areas of Leeds due to the excellent work and support the team at Leeds Rhinos Foundation provide to Ambassador Schools and Community Clubs.
"We have seen the positive impact that the Ambassador Scheme can have in communities pulling together Leeds Rhinos fans for some great supporter events as well as engaging with new Rugby League fans in thy city, nationally and internationally.
"The continuing work of our Business Ambassadors to promote Leeds Rhinos is invaluable and offers some great opportunities for group travel and social gatherings within geographical hubs in Leeds and the surrounding area.
"We cannot thank all our Ambassadors enough and we look forward to the exciting times ahead in 2017.”
