Leeds Rhinos Foundation and Leeds City College welcomed over 20 prospective students from schools in Leeds for a presentation at Headingley Carnegie Stadium on Friday about studying at Leeds City College in September, which was followed by a chance to watch Leeds Rhinos in action against Hull KR.
The offer, open to year 11 pupils from schools associated with the Leeds Rhinos Foundation, has been provided to utilise the appeal of watching live sports at Headingley Carnegie Stadium with the chance for prospective students to receive presentations from Leeds City College’s Sports Academy staff and careers team.
Introduced by Further and Higher Education Development Officer for Leeds Rhinos Foundation, Russell Parker, the students go the chance to speak to college staff about course options and the opportunity to play sports at the college.
“We are very proud of our partnership with Leeds City College which has gone from strength to strength over the past 24 months,” said Parker.
“The college has a thriving sports academy including a Rugby League team now playing in the Yorkshire Colleges Division which we will continue to support with our first class facilities at the Rhinos.
“The offer was great for incentivising pupils considering combining their studies with playing college sport with a chance to come and enjoy the atmosphere at Headingley Carnegie on a match night and at the same time hear from college tutors and careers staff about the great courses and options available to them at Leeds City College,” added Parker.
The evening included a presentation from the Leeds City College careers team about studying at Leeds City College and the benefits and opportunities of studying in Leeds as well as an overview of all the courses available at the different campuses across the city and upcoming open days taking place.
