Leeds Rhinos Foundation’s Run with the Rhinos team have raised over £8,000 from completing the Asda Foundation Leeds 10k on July 9th which will support more community based projects in the city of Leeds
A total of 85 runners signed up for the race this year including Leeds Rhinos legends Barrie McDermott and Chev Walker, staff from Leeds Rugby along with fundraisers from the Leeds community including 17 runners from law firm Chadwick Lawrence and members of the charity’s Try Club Men’s Health management group.
Chief Operating Officer for Leeds Rhinos Foundation Bob Bowman said:
“Ever since we started our Run with the Rhinos initiative, we've had one clear goal in mind – to inspire as many people as possible to help us keep making positive changes in the community by raising money for our charity.
“2017 was no exception and we are delighted to announce that one of our biggest teams in the history of our Run with the Rhinos history, yielded one of the best fundraising returns from our team with a fantastic total of over £8000 to support our work going forward.”
To help reach the total Leeds Rhinos Foundation have received some fantastic individual fundraising efforts from the team with the top five all receiving a top prize of a hospitality package for them and a guest at one of the upcoming Super 8s fixtures at Headingley Carnegie Stadium, as a guest of the Leeds Rhinos Foundation.
Following the run all of the team were invited to Banyan Bar and Kitchen in city square to enjoy a post-race event, where they were also able to have a massage from Freedom Care Clinics.
Bowman added:
“Once again, we are indebted to all our runners for joining the team this year and fundraising on our behalf, we can’t operate without fundraising and support from the community, so I’d like to thank everyone for their support on behalf of Leeds Rhinos Foundation.
“The day was spectacular thanks in no little part to everyone making it such a good team atmosphere and the support we received from Banyan Bar, who hosted us afterwards along with Freedom Care Clinics providing some post run recovery.”
