Leeds Rhinos Foundation in partnership with Rugby League Cares is hosting the the ground-breaking ‘Rugby League Heritage on Tour’ travelling exhibition in the Carnegie Café at Headingley Carnegie Stadium this month, with the collection of invaluable Rugby League memorabilia available to view until the 1st November 2015
The exhibition, which opened last week, tells the story of the game, its players and supporters and, most importantly, the communities that made the sport dating back the 19th century and includes and has been researched, developed and produced by the Rugby League Cares charity.
As well as historic memorabilia from the Mike Stephenson Collection, including a player's shirt from the first-ever rugby league test match and the ball from the famous 1954 Challenge Cup final replay, the exhibition tells the story of the game's split from rugby union, the first World Cup, the banning of league in World War Two France and much, much more.
Whether you're a rugby league fan or a lover of social history, this is an exhibition not to be missed.
The exhibition is open from Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 16:00pm.
