Rhinos star Myler leads Coach Education Workshop

Leeds Rhinos Foundation welcomed 40 community club coaches from across the region to the first Coach Education workshop of 2018 last week at Leeds Rugby Academy with special guest coach and Leeds Rhinos star Richie Myler

Working alongside Leeds Rhinos Assistant Coach Barry Eaton, Myler worked with West Leeds ARLFC Under 14s players on the night going through a number of coaching insights and drills around offensive back plays.

The programme is part of Leeds Rhinos Foundation’s Rugby League Development Plan sponsored by Mears, to upskill Coaches from the community with regular coaching insight, resources and support using players and coaches from Leeds Rhinos to deliver workshops on different areas of the game.

Myler, who is playing his first season with the Rhinos, said it is important to give back to the community game:

“I get a lot out of the sessions myself and everything we can do to help our game along is great because these kids are the future really and the ones that are going to be playing. The junior and amateur coaches are doing a great job and they put tremendous hours into the community game, so any help and tips we can give them is great.

“It was more of an attacking based workshop tonight just a few small core skills for the players and coaches to work on, it was a good session and obviously a great turnout with 40 coaches, good to see so many coaches wanting to learn and improve, so a pleasure to be part of.”

The next Coach Education Workshop will take place on the 18th April at Leeds Rugby Academy hosted by Leeds Rhinos Assistant Coach Barry Eaton. For more information and to register your place contact Sam.Horner@leedsrhinosfoundation.org
