Rhinos legend signs up for Run with the Rhinos team

Barrie will be running for the Rhinos for the seventh time this year

Leeds Rhinos fans have the chance to be on the same team as club legend Barrie McDermott this summer by signing up to run in the Asda Foundation Leeds 10k on 10th July.

McDermott will be putting on his running shoes to race as part of the ‘Run with the Rhinos’ team, which raises money for the club’s official charity Leeds Rhinos Foundation and Jane’s Appeal.  The 2004 Grand Final winner, who is now a presenter for Sky Sports, has been a long term supporter of both charities and is looking forward to taking on the course for the seventh time.

“I am delighted to be part of the Run with the Rhinos team again this year," said McDermott.  "I have personally seen the outstanding work the Leeds Rhinos Foundation do, not only in helping develop our game and offering opportunities to young people, but also in supporting and inspiring the most vulnerable people in their community.

“I would like to see as many Rhinos supporters to join in the fun this year.  Even if running a 10k may seem a daunting prospect it is achievable and the feeling when you cross the finish line and look back at what you have accomplished will make all the hard work worth it… Trust me you'll be keeping me company at the back!”

Entry for the race is £30 and there are plenty of incentives to fundraise for the charity with invitations to social events and Rhinos style fitness session on offer.  For full details on the fundraising incentives click here.
