Leeds Rhinos legend Keith Senior will finally bring down the curtain on a 15 year association with the club this week when he leaves the Leeds Rhinos Foundation to rejoin his former club, Sheffield Eagles.
Senior joined the Rhinos in 1999 from Sheffield and played a key part in the club's success between 2004 and 2011, when he was forced to retire through injury. After his playing days had ended, he remained at the club as part of the Leeds Rhinos Foundation team, helping to promote the game he loves at grassroots level across the city.
However, he will now return to his former club after being offered a full-time coaching position. The former Great Britain star re-joined the club at the start of last season as part of Mark Aston's coaching staff, having previously served the Eagles with distinction as a player.
Keith began his career with Sheffield, playing an integral part of the 1998 Challenge Cup triumph.
He will continue to work alongside Mark Aston on the coaching staff, and also take a more active role in the day-to-day running of the club, including an increased involvement with the Include Foundation.
Eagles boss Aston said: "Keith will be continuing to coach with me, and will also work with the foundation as a motivator going into schools and other public appearances.
"It will be good for Keith to go into schools and tell them about how it all started for him at the Eagles to become one of the greatest centres in Great Britain's history. It proves it can happen.
"He will also be going out to meet companies who could potentially come in and buy into the long term vision of Sheffield Eagles and rugby league in South Yorkshire."
Senior tweeted, "I would like to thank everyone involved at Leeds Rhinos for making my 15 plus years there an amazing experience. The club has and always will be a big part of me and I would like to think I have made some amazing life long friends from the playing staff to everyone associated behind the scenes and the fans at the club. My time to progress my career has come and I feel Sheffield have made me an amazing offer to develop not only my coaching but behind the scenes and try to get the Eagles back where they belong."
The Leeds Rhinos Foundation would like to thank Keith for his all his efforts with the Foundation over the past few years and wish him well in his future coaching career.
