Rhinos Development Academy claim second straight win in Salford

The Leeds Rhinos Development Academy with Leeds City College claimed their second straight win in the Colleges Premier Division with a commanding 28-12 victory over Salford Red Devils Development Academy at The AJ Bell Stadium.

A fine away performance saw the Rhinos, who defeated bottom side Hopwood Hall 30-22 in their last outing, fight back from an early 6-0 deficit to take full control of the match with scores either side of the half-time hooter.

The lead was extended to 12 points thanks to a converted Jamie Coates try, but the home side showed their resolve by marching down the field just minutes later to move back within one score as Will Toone dived over under the posts, McManus adding the extras.

Any hopes that the home side had of completing a second half comeback were quickly dashed though, with Dan Hardy’s men showing the poise to catch a tiring defence napping and score a breakaway score, before adding a final try in the dying embers of the game to take the final score to 28-12.

Victory has moved the Rhinos Development Academy up one spot in the Colleges Premier Division table, with four points from five league matches played.

The side return to action on Wednesday 27th November when they travel to face Hull FC Development Academy, who they were narrowly beaten by 32-28 in the opening round of the 2019 season.
