Rhinos Active Social group enjoy First Aid refresher course

Brian Firth from First Aid Global First Aid Services led the session for the over 55s group

The Rhinos Active Social Group for over 55s enjoyed a session on basic first aid with guest instructor Brian Firth from Global First Aid Services last week at Headingley Carnegie Stadium

Rhinos Active Social, which offers a weekly session for £2 under Leeds Rhinos Foundation’s health agenda is designed to promote healthy ageing for older adults gained through regular light exercise, up to date health information and good health practices.

The session was organised by Leeds Rhinos Foundation Health Improvement Officer Laura Buckle as a result of feedback from regular members who had completed first aid training when in work years ago and wanted to refresh their knowledge.

Topics on the day included, what to do in emergency, choking, and CPR skills to enable the group to feel more confident if faced with a situation in their community or in their own homes or with family and friends.

Laura Buckle said:

"The group is growing by the week and engaging with older adults from across the city. We have a range of taster activities scheduled over the next few months including chair yoga, ballroom dancing, circle dance and boccia which are open to all, so we encourage anyone interested to come down and find out more."
