The Leeds Rhinos Foundation’s School Ambassador Scheme has once again exceeded expectations this year by surpassing the 5000 barrier for schools children, staff and parents taking part in match day activity for the 2015 First Utility Super League Season.
Groups from schools are a focal point of match days through the work of the Leeds Rhinos Foundation, taking part in match day activities and adding to the atmosphere and on-field spectacle before and during half time at home fixtures throughout the season.
Taking lead from the hugely successful Half Time team programme, led by Sam Horner, there are now more opportunities for schools to take part in matchday activities.
The activity on match days includes groups taking part in pre-match activities, the Day to Remember pitch parade in association with Caddick Construction or simply just coming to enjoy a game with their school.
To date, there have been over 100 groups booked to attend the matches with three home games of the regular season remaining including popular fixtures against St Helens (3rd July) and Les Catalans (28th July) still to come in the 2015 season.
Lisa McCann, School Ambassador Manager for the Leeds Rhinos Foundation commented:
"I am delighted with how the scheme has progressed this year, it is fantastic that we have been able to offer this opportunity to so many people and hopefully it will be the start of the Leeds Rhinos journey for many of the students and their families.
"It is down to the hard work of our Partner Schools Officers and all of our Development Officers that we have seen this success. They deserve enormous praise for the work they do in the schools every day and for engaging so many children and their families to attend the matches.
"Credit must also go to our School Ambassadors, who have liaised with us throughout in order to provide these opportunities to their students. The Foundation aims to change lives through sport and if we can inspire the next generation of Leeds Rhinos fans, then we will be meeting that aim."
The groups attending a match day experience range from Primary and infant schools through to High School and 6th Form Colleges ensuring the club reach out to as many demographics and ages as possible.
The next First Utility Super League fixture at Headingley Carnegie stadium promises to be another success for the Foundation and the Leeds Rhinos with numbers likely to eclipse those set at the Wigan Warriors game earlier in the season.
