Pudsey and the Leeds Rhinos Foundation ‘scrum together’ to get the public fundraising for BBC Children in Need

Leeds Rugby Foundation have an exciting partnership with Leeds City Council's Leeds Let's Get Active

As this year’s BBC Children in Need appeal draws closer, iconic mascots Pudsey and Ronnie the Rhino, along with Leeds Rhinos player Jamie Jones-Buchanan, paid a visit to one of the local schools befitting from the BBC Children in Need funded project ‘We Are Rhinos’ ran by the Leeds Rhinos Foundation every year at 20 schools across Leeds.

With Children in Need returning to screens on the 13th November The Leeds Rhinos and their official chairty the Leeds Rhinos Foundation are encouraging fans to ‘Be a Hero’ for BBC Children in Need this year and show their support for the Charity.

BBC Children in Need currently funds 21 projects across Leeds with funding of more than £1,000,000. Being a hero for BBC Children in Need this year would help fund even more projects, just like the ‘We Are Rhinos’ project which delivers physical activities to 400 children from primary schools in the most deprived areas of Leeds.

A grant of nearly £50,000 funds a project worker and the running costs of the sessions which improve the children’s self-esteem. In the sessions the children are able to meet professional athletes, take part in multi-sport physical activity, door step games and receive healthy lifestyle advice.

Leeds Rhinos Star Jamie Jones-Buchanan said:

“It’s great to have Pudsey here with us today and to be able to meet some of the children that benefit directly from BBC Children in Need funding. Come on Leeds; get fundraising to really help make a difference to young lives right here in Leeds, and across the UK.”

There are plenty of ways to get involved with BBC Children in Need, whether you want to organise a charity rugby match, put on your walking boots to ramble across the countryside, dress up as your childhood hero, put on a quiz or put on a bake sale, your support will help make a positive change to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.

The official Children in Need fundraising pack is available for download from bbc.co.uk/Pudsey and is packed with ideas to help the public with their fundraising efforts, plus lots of exclusive content from the Charity’s celebrity friends.

To date the Great British public has raised over £790 million for children and young people across the UK and the Charity is calling on people to once again pull out the stops and to help raise money to change young lives!
