An enterprising group of students from Priesthorpe high school in Leeds received an insight into the business workings of Leeds Rhinos and official charity the Leeds Rhinos Foundation last week after raising money for their trip to the stadium
The students studying GCSE Business Studies enjoyed a tour of the famous stadium before receiving a special talk from Leeds Rugby Commercial Director Rob Oates about the business operation behind the Leeds Rhinos and an insight into the not-for-profit charity arm of the club the Leeds Rhinos Foundation.
The students raised money for the tour which has been donated to the Leeds Rhinos Foundation to support the charity’s mantra of ‘Changing Lives Through Sport’ through a number of community-based health, education and sport projects in the city.
Business Studies Teacher at Priesthorpe High School, Dan Sheard said:
“Our visit to Headingley Carnegie Stadium was fantastic, in the talks the students gained a top end in sight as to how both the club and foundation run from a business point of view.
“The setting of Try Zone was the perfect working environment and the information the students gathered will play a pivotal part in the successful completion of their coursework.
“Without the assistance of the Leeds Rhinos Foundation the opportunity to visit the club, would not have come about. A huge thanks must go to Chris from the Foundation and Rob Oates for their time and effort.”
