Partnership with Yorkshire Health Charity helping to inspire children to lead healthy lifestyles

During the last school year Leeds Rhinos Foundation has continued to deliver an enrichment programme across Leeds in partnership with Yorkshire Health Charity.

The work undertaken is in some of the most disadvantaged across the City, with schools in Leeds receiving a six-week multi-sport coaching package along with a healthy lifestyle assembly.  Each child also receives a free branded water bottle to encourage them to drink plenty of water.

So far Leeds Rhinos Foundation has engaged with 21 of the 25 schools identified to receive the programme, with some very successful results including; raised confidence and self-esteem, increased physical activity levels and improved leadership skills.

Speaking about the project, Leeds Rhinos Foundations Community Manager, Gareth Cook said: “We are delighted to work with Yorkshire Health Charity delivering a programme that has such impact on some of the most vulnerable people in the city.

“Using the Rhinos players and staff as good role models really engages children and promotes messages for them to continue taking part in sport as well as leading a healthy lifestyle.

“I would like to thank Richard Buttery and the board of trustees for their continued and valuable support.”
