Over 100 runners and walkers will be taking to the streets of Leeds on Sunday for the Asda Foundation Leeds 10k and they need your support to help meet this year’s target of £20,000 to support the Leeds Rhinos Foundation and the Jane Tomlinson Appeal

As one of the flagship fundraising events of the year, the Leeds Rhinos Foundation’s Run/Walk with the Rhinos team will be hoping to raise as much money as possible to support the community work the charity delivers in the Leeds community and are reaching out to the public to help support the overall total raised by asking for team donations.

The Asda Foundation Leeds 10k that sees over 10,000 runners take on the 6.2 mile course annually, is one of the most popular events on the Yorkshire road racing calendar – seeing a host of great causes represented on the day through charity runners and walkers.

Funds raised by the Run/Walk with the Rhinos team will once again be split between supporting the Leeds Rhinos Foundation and partner charity for the event, the Jane Tomlinson Appeal.

Runners have been asked to raise a minimum of £100 for the event to be entitled to the benefits such as a pre-race training session, a chance to run with Leeds Rhinos legends Jamie Peacock and Barrie McDermott, an official Run/Walk with the Rhinos technical race T-shirt, free professional photos from the event, a post-race breakfast and a chance to take part in a pitch parade at an upcoming Leeds Rhinos home fixture.

Team members who have been able to achieve the fantastic total of £400 from donations are entitled to a special signed Leeds Rhinos shirt from all of the Leeds Rhinos first team, along with a corporate match day invitation including two course dinner, hosted table, post-match analysis and entry into Long Bar (Players Lounge) following game as a thanks for their fundraising efforts.

So far two brilliant fundraisers who have reached the £400 total are Lee Hebbron and Andy Sheppard with many more runners bringing in fantastic amounts to the charity.

The target this year for total fundraising is an ambitious £20,000, which will provide valuable funding for both well-established charities to continue their well-regarded charity work.

The Leeds Rhinos Foundation have a 10 year history of working to change lives through sport, providing opportunities and support to inspire children and adults around Yorkshire to regularly take part in physical activity.

As a non-profit charity all funds are put back into the Foundation and split between a range of projects the charity delivers in schools, rugby clubs and in the community, supporting people of all abilities and backgrounds through education, sport and health.

Funds raised from the event will also support the inspiring work of the Jane Tomlinson Appeal, with over 7.6 million raised over the last 13 years in support of children and cancer charities as part of Jane’s incredible legacy.

The Leeds Rhinos Foundation are asking for members of the public to either sponsor a family member or friend already running or alternatively support the charity through donating to the staff Run/Walk with the Rhinos account, which will add to the overall total raised.
