Foundation to host RTP Player Development sessions Oldham in March

Leeds Rhinos Foundation will continue their Rugby League development work to support clubs in Oldham with continued delivery of their successful Rhinos Talent Pathway (RTP) this March.

The weekly sessions will be held at Hollinwood Rugby Club in Oldham and will offer young players in school years 10 and 11 an exciting opportunity to receive first class coaching from Leeds Rhinos Foundation staff and RTP coaches.  The free sessions are aimed at players in the area who are looking to improve their core Rugby League skills and reach their full athletic potential in a professional environment. The sessions will be followed by two games in April including playing as a curtain raiser to the Betfred League One Championship fixture between Oldham and Rochdale on Good Friday.

Previous sessions in Oldham have been extremely well received, with recent Player Development Days attended by more than 85 local players from 20 different community clubs and proving extremely popular with the youngsters who took part.  Earlier this year Leeds Rhinos Foundation announced a new partnership with Oldham Rugby League which will see the two working together to support the growth of the game and the development of local coaches. The RTP player development programme also complements the partnership the charity has with Oldham Sixth Form to provide further high-quality sporting opportunities for the young people of Oldham and support their development.

Current Leeds Rhinos player Jack Sinfield, who started playing rugby with Saddleworth Rangers in his home town of Oldham, said this is great opportunity for young players in the town.  “It’s great to see Leeds Rhinos Foundation continuing their work in Oldham.  There are some great community clubs in my home town and hopefully the development work Leeds Rhinos Foundation are doing in the area will help support them all by attracting new players to try out the sport or offering new opportunities for players to develop and get on a pathway with a club like I was grateful to do at Leeds.”

Please note that places are limited and those who are interested in attending are urged to sign up as soon as possible to avoid disappointment!

The session is FREE for all players to attend, but does require all players to pre-registered via the CLICKING HERE or following the link below.
