The next session in Leeds Rhinos Foundation’s Coach Education programme will take place on 21st March at Leeds Rugby Academy, Kirkstall between 7pm-8.30pm, and will be led by Leeds Rhinos star Richie Myler.
Myler, who joined the Rhinos this season and has been an ever present during the 2018 season, will offer his advice and tips to the coaches, looking specifically at Backs/Ruck offensive plays.
The Coach Education programme is a key part of Leeds Rhinos Foundation’s Rugby League Development Plan, supported by MEARS, which aims to support the game at grassroots level by introducing more people to Rugby League and helping to develop players and the coaches.
Coaches from the charity's Ambassador Clubs and Schools are invited to the session with Myler, which will also be supported by Rhinos Assistant Coach Barry Eaton, who is the lead coach on this year’s Coach Education programme.
Sam Horner, Community Clubs Development Officer for Leeds Rhinos Foundation, said: “We are delighted that Richie has agreed to join us for the first session in this year's Coach Education programme.
“Our Rugby League Development Plan has made a big impact in introducing new players to Rugby League, which is fantastic for the growth of our game, but the work doesn’t stop there and we are committed to supporting clubs in helping to develop those players into becoming the best they can be and this is why the Coach Education programme has a key role to play in the Plan."
The Coach Education programme for 2018 will aim to upskill Community Club coaches with workshops that will be catered to meet the needs of the coaches. There will also be the formation of a coaching association membership and Creating Coaching Resources for community coaches to use.
